At the Secondary School of Mechanical Engineering at the Maribor Technical School Center we offer the following educational courses:
Mechanical installer is a profession that is gaining in importance as it is engaged in the manufacture, installation and servicing of heating systems, plumbing, air conditioning and gas installations. The installers are field workers, in constant contact with people and are valued as experts who solve problems in all types of home fixtures, set up and service them. In the companies, they carry out finishing work in the construction of buildings, which they equip with all the necessary installation.
The training lasts for three years and ends with the final exam, which includes a written and oral exam in Slovene and a project work in the form of the completion of a practical product and its presentation.
Metal Shaper – Toolmaker is a new program created as a result of the process of updating educational programs.
The novelty of this program is that the content of education is focused on professional competences. Theoretical contents are intertwined with the professional and practical ones, and the students / apprentices also have the educational content suggested by future employers.
The training lasts for three years and ends with the final exam, which includes a written and oral exam in Slovene and a project work in the form of the completion of a practical product and its presentation.
The fields of employment and the goals of education are the same as in the secondary vocational education program for the profession of mechanical engineering technician.
Enrollment in the educational program can be completed by anyone who has successfully completed one of the following secondary vocational education titles:
car mechanic, sheet metal repairman, vehicle body repairer, sheet metal mechanic, machine designer, metal shaper-toolmaker, watchmaker, goldsmith, mechatronics operator, electrician, electronics technician, electrician, construction mechanic and agricultural mechanic, miner, geostructural miner or have obtained equivalent training under previous regulations.
Mechanical technician is certainly the most employable of all technical professions. This profession is sought almost everywhere in the mechanical industry, as well as in the wood, textile, construction and more. The training lasts for four years and ends with a vocational matura examination. To enroll in this program you need to have the best possible success from elementary school, especially sufficient knowledge of mathematics, foreign language and physics, interest in the profession and technology in general, precision, diligence and orderliness, good spatial presentability, readiness for learning.
Mechatronics operator manages knowledge, procedures and techniques for the maintenance, production and development of machines, devices and plants. He or she acquires knowledge in the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automatic control, computer science and computer science. The training lasts for three years and ends with the final exam.
In today’s world, intelligent machines help us with almost any task. Their design, maintenance and management, however, require extensive technical knowledge. This is provided by the mechatronics technician training program that integrates knowledge in the field of mechanics, information and electrical engineering.
Mechatronics is a collection of basic knowledge, procedures and techniques for the maintenance, production and development of modern machinery, equipment and installations. Mechatronics is also a new way of thinking in product and system design. The training lasts for four years and ends with a vocational matura examination.
A motor vehicle body repairer manufactures, and above all, repairs, installs and maintains, repairs and remodels individual frame parts, bodywork and upgrades of a motor vehicle. The training lasts for three years and ends with the final exam.
The car mechanic is trained to maintain motor vehicles and internal combustion engines. The focus of the work is on systematic fault finding on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and electronic motor vehicle systems, repair of assemblies, adjustment of basic values, control and assessment of the function and condition of the motor vehicle. He or she must have a sense of organization of work and communication with clients. He or she uses diagnostic devices at work, so he or she must keep up with technological developments. The training lasts for three years and ends with the final exam.
An auto-service technician is competent in the field of motor vehicle service and diagnostics. The training lasts for 2 years and ends with a vocational matura examination.
